Body Positive Bellydance
Jamie began her bellydance journey in 2005, and moved into teaching in 2010 when she realized that she wanted to highlight the fact that anybody can bellydance, no matter their experience with dance, age, size, gender, or any other factor. She has kept this at the forefront throughout the years, and her students appreciate the safe and welcoming space she provides.
When the pandemic hit, she transitioned from teaching in person to online, bringing with it her sense of humor and love of teaching in this new format. She could reach people all over the country and bring them some movement and joy right in their own homes. She also loves the long chats after class that allow her students to connect and support one another in ways that wasn't possible during in person classes.
Jamie is also a Yoga Suggestor and Healer, so she thinks often about what movements will help her students the most, and she often incorporates breath work into her instruction.
Jamie enjoys teaching beginner students the most because she truly delights in their realizations about their bodies and their ability to move them. She also enjoys working with a variety of music and the opportunity to explore dances and rhythms that are not classically associated with Bellydance. Introducing students to new music and teaching them the many ways it can look when translated through Bellydance makes for great fun!
Let yourself move, let yourself love, let yourself dance.
